The Game
Basics:
· TeeBall is designed to be instructional first, competitive second. Score however, will not be kept. Coaches are reminded that the purpose of this level is to develop the players, foster an atmosphere of fun, and allow kids to get a taste of a competitive environment.
· Games will be 4 innings or the time limit.
· Games will have a 1:15 time limit and no new inning should begin after 1:00
o If the time limit is reached while a player is at bat, the batter shall complete the at bat.
· Half-innings are terminated when the defense gets three outs or the offense bats the entire lineup.
· Continuous batting order will be used.
o Coaches should establish an order at the start of the game
· All players are to be assigned a defensive position, one player should be assigned the catcher’s position (and they should be wearing a helmet). All other defensive players should be in fair territory.
· Defensive players should be “tethered to their position”. (i.e. the third basemen can not run and tag down a runner on their way to first base)
· Defensive players shall not encroach on the hitter. No player should be closer to the batter than the pitcher.
· Players should be rotated between infield and outfield every 2 innings.
· There is no infield fly rule.
Batting:
· A batter who throws their bat dangerously will get one warning. The second thrown bat the batter will be declared out.
o Batters will attempt to hit the ball into fair territory off a tee that should set to mid to upper thigh
Baserunning:
· The batter and baserunners may advance once the ball is hit and continue running until the pitcher possesses the ball near the mound. At that point, the baserunners must return to the base they safely reached.
· Baserunners will not advance on an overthrow.
· There is no head-first sliding. This is a safety issue.
· Stealing bases is not allowed and runners are not allowed to leave the base before the ball is struck.
Defense:
· Fielders should attempt to make outs including catching pop flies, force plays, and tag outs.
· If outs are made, the batter or baserunner are to be declared out.
Equipment:
· Only league supplied TeeBalls are to be used.
· Bats must meet USA Bat standards as set forth by Little League
· TeeBall bats should be 26” or shorter
· NOSCAE approved batting helmets should be worn by all offensive players at all times while on the field and the ball is in play.
· All fielders must have a glove.
Post-Game:
· Both teams should line up at home plate and shake hands
· Both teams are responsible for picking up all garbage.
· Bases and equipment will need returned to the respective shed/container at that field.
